An Ellsworth woman reported seeing an unusually bright green and white light in the sky above her
rural home on Stonehammer Road shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday.
The woman, who declined to be identified in an article published Saturday in the Eau Claire
Leader-Telegram, said her husband called the Pierce County Sheriff's Department and two officers were
sent to the scene.
"It was a very bright light - white and green - it really wasn't consistent in the way it
flickered, not like an airplane's light," the woman said. "It was like a strobe light. What caused me
to question it was that it went from side to side rather than in a straight line, like an airplane."
She said the light was high up in the sky, but slightly lower than the height of planes that travel
near her home. Each night about five or six planes usually fly over the area.
"At different points, it would disappear and then reappear as it was going away from us," she said.
She and her husband watched the light for about 20 minutes before going outside to find out if it
was making a noise. They heard nothing, she said.
One other person reported seeing the same bright light but refused to disclose his name, a
sheriff's department spokesperson said.
A Pierce County Herald reporter tried several times to reach the couple at their home, but was
unsuccessful.
