Details of Incident:
I'm not sure of the exact date that this happened so I'm giving you the approximate date and time. It
wasn't IN Wisconsin Rapids but about 8 miles east out in the country. Myself and two friends were
driving down a country road, my two friends were in the front seat and I was sitting in the back seat.
The road we were driving down was a VERY long, flat, straight road, it starts out paved and towards the
end becomes gravel. There were no trees to obstruct our vision. We were still on the paved part when we
saw "headlights" way up ahead down the road. At least we assumed they were..it was on the ground and we
couldn't see two distinct lights yet but when headlights are far enough off they look like one big light.
We didn't think anything of it at first and continued our conversations.
The closer and closer we got we realized whatever it was was not moving, it was sitting stationary in the
middle of the road. We also realized that it was not headlights. It looked like a HUGE white light...
roughly round in shape with a smaller reddish light that appeared to be rotating around it clockwise. As
soon as we got close enough to realize that it was NOT headlights for some reason we all got very quiet
and were just looking at it as we drove towards it. I'm not really sure why our conversations died down
and we couldn't remember what we were talking about.
Then my friend asked out loud what it was and none of us knew. We began going through all the things in
our head that could possibly emit a light like that and came up stumped. There were no train tracks in
the area, it was too big to be headlights of any kind on a truck or a car or motorcycle. We got to the
part of the road that turns into gravel and slowed our pace to about 30 miles per hour. We kept driving
towards it trying to figure out what it could possibly be. The closer we got the brighter and larger the
light seemed to be. It was so bright that we couldn't see any structure or vehicle that the lights might
be attached to.
When we were probably 1/2 mile away the driver and I got afraid and we decided to turn around and drive
back to Wisconsin Rapids. We drove away very quickly and the light could still be observed up until we
turned a corner and it was out of our line of sight.
The strangest thing that happened occurred the next morning when the driver of the car and I were
discussing what we saw and trying to figure out what it was. Our other friend who had been riding in the
passenger seat had no recollection of the event at all. We were dumb struck and described it to her in
detail but she didn't remember it happening.
