Details of Incident:
Received phone call from
neighbors and was told there was something interesting
towards the west appearing in the sky. They had their telescope set up on their
pier. I could not see it from my pier since an island is in the way. Walked
over to their house; they had viewed it for about 15 minutes already. Brought
along my binoculars. Object was bright and round, red on bottom, yellow in
middle, blue on top. In telescope about the size of a large pearl. Kind of
reminded me of a Christmas ornament. Had a luminous quality and they said seemed
when they first spotted it red color would act like a strobe light; blue color
would do this also. I watched it for about 10 minutes then it disappeared over
the farthest tree line. Was too excited to remember camera, am not very good
at taking photos. Would like to know if anyone else saw it, it was pretty big.
Was this the planet Mars which is supposed to be really big in August?
Weather conditions were clear, it was just hanging there.
