This was on or about August 2, 2006. Definitely not a satellite. See similar posting for August 30, 2006. Same brightness as an average star yet the object moved slowly across the horizon, South-North then stopped abruptly - then changed direction moving north-east.
Observed similar star-like object at the same time on different point in the sky which appeared to be hovering slightly with slow small-angled movements. Was also not a star as it changed location in small increments.
The sky was very clear.
