Details of Incident:

My husband and I were watching a movie in the house when I kept hearing rumbling like either thunder in the distance or a really loud growl but in the distance. I thought maybe it could be a cougar or something. It happened for about ten minutes on and off--so finally I dragged him out onto the deck so we could hear and see better. We sat out there and listened, and kept hearing the same rumbling about every minute off near a cornfield by our house. The sky was completely clear with stars everywhere. Then, after about ten more minutes of intermittent rumbling, the rumbling became louder and constant and at the same time, the whole sky lit up in that area like lightning..but it was constant and for about thirty seconds. So for thirty seconds the rumble was intense and the light was constant. Then it just suddenly stopped and in the distance we saw what we thought might be an airplane, but it moved way to fast in my opinion. And this rumbling sounded nothing like an airplane. It was softer but powerful. Like a lion growl or explosion that you would hear way off in the distance. My husband agrees that it was very strange.
