Details of Incident:

I was downtown Milwaukee and on the way home another witness and I both saw a strange object in the night sky. We were driving down Highway 794 south. As we were exiting the freeway at Howard Avenue, we saw a bright object in the southern sky. It looked like it was near the airport. We do see tons of airplanes here, and this object was no airplane. It was one bright white light, and it was moving! I mean, it came out of the sky at a very high rate of speed and at first looked like it was going to crash straight into the ground, but as it neared the horizon it started to level off. However, it was still moving more downward than sideways when it disappeared behind the tree line. The fact that it did change direction means that it couldn't have been a shooting star. And it was much too bright for that anyway.

I'm always watching the skies here, so it's not really surprising that I would have seen it. The fact that the person I was with immediately saw it too made me realize that it was noteworthy. She even looked up and said "Wow, what's that?" Then when it disappeared she noted that it was no plane, and then even started humming the Twilight Zone theme. She then noted that she half expected an explosion from a crash since it was headed toward the ground so quickly.

The whole thing lasted about 10 seconds. Like I said, it was moving pretty quick. This UFO sighting took place at 6:15 pm CST.

Was wondering if anyone else may have spotted it. Does anyone have any explanation for it? Unless the Blue Angels were doing some kind of strange night maneuvers over the airport, I don't know of any other craft that heads straight toward the ground like that and then pulls out of the dive at the last minute.

Tim K. also saw a similar object eight days earlier. I documented that sighting in this Report.
